Welcome to 'Glannoventa', the West Cumbrian website dedicated to the enjoyment of Latin, and to exploring the world of the ancient Romans.

It has been created by staff and pupils from the Classics Department at St. Bees School on the Cumbrian coast.

'Glannoventa' was the name of the Roman fort at Ravenglass, not far to the south of St. Bees. (You can still see the outline of the fort, and there's also a very impressive Roman bath house.)
