A Haiku is a simple poem in a style which originated in Japan. It has 3 lines, and usually has its roots in the natural world. The first line usually sets the scene, in terms of time or place, and has 5 syllables. The second may make a philosophical statement, and has seven syllables. The third line ties the first two together, and has five syllables.
